Building future ag leaders at the AFA Leaders Conference

This year’s Agriculture Future of America (AFA) Leaders Conference was held November 7–10 at the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri. BASF attended the event in support of AFA’s mission to grow future leaders in ag by “building bridges for young leaders to foster engagement and innovation in food and agriculture.” BASF employees shared their career knowledge and expertise with more than 800 students in attendance.

The students who applied and were selected for the coveted opportunity to attend the AFA’s annual Leaders Conference represented over 70 colleges and universities. To be selected, students had to excel in academic achievement as well as show an established passion and involvement with the ag community on a local and university level.

Several of BASF’s former interns and Professional Development Program (PDP) participants represented BASF at the conference. As a sponsor of the event, BASF participated in the Career Opportunity Fair and held its annual breakfast for an intimate group of students, which provided engagement on a more personal level.

BASF’s engagement with the AFA includes continued sponsorships at the Leaders Conference in 2020 and participation with the AFA’s Crop Institute to be held in July 2020 in Raleigh, North Carolina. BASF will also participate in smaller AFA regional events throughout the year.
