BASF commits to reducing hunger across U.S. in honor of Hunger Action Month

Virtual food drive benefits Feeding America food banks

In recognition of Hunger Action Month, BASF teamed up with Feeding America to help fight hunger across the U.S. During a month-long online food drive, BASF employees, together with their families and friends, raised $40,160 which surpassed the 2018 goal of $30,000. In addition, BASF matched this amount, bringing the total donation to $79,920.

“For every $1 donated, a minimum of ten meals will be provided. This can make a world of difference to our neighbors in need,” said Baldwin. “Our total funds raised this year will help provide at least 120,480 meals to areas in need throughout the country.”

All funds raised will be donated directly to 200 Feeding America food banks across the country based on donor zip codes. This means donations will directly benefit the local communities where donors reside. The BASF virtual food drive took an all-hands-on-deck approach this year with all U.S. Agricultural Solutions Product sites participating.

“With 46 million children and adults suffering from food insecurity in the U.S., Hunger Action Month is a cause that is close to our hearts,” said Amy Baldwin, Community Relations and Events Manager, BASF Agricultural Solutions. “BASF’s financial support of Feeding America’s National Produce Program will help the organization reach its goal of providing 1.7 billion meals through produce by 2025.”
