Defining Sustainability

The U.S. Department of Agriculture defines sustainability as producing enough food and fiber to satisfy today’s needs without compromising the ability of future generations to do the same.1

 

At BASF we view sustainability in a holistic way. It’s not only the critical agronomic practices that conserve soil health and reduce greenhouse gasses. Sustainability encompasses all the environmental, economic and social factors that contribute to preserving the long-term viability of the farm.
