Randy Dowdy sets new soybean record
For the last 13 years, Georgia corn and soybean grower Randy Dowdy has been pushing the limits with agronomics. This year, not only did he push the limits, but he exceeded them, setting the new world soybean production record not once, but twice!1
Dowdy partnered with BASF to reach this milestone. Relying on his traditional BASF Plant Health program using Priaxor® fungicide, Dowdy broke his previous record of 171 bushels per acre with 179 bushels per acre. But he wasn’t done yet. BASF also provided him its newest soybean fungicide offering, Revytek™ fungicide, powered by Revysol®Fungicide Technical. He harvested the second field a few days after the first record-breaking field, averaging an astonishing 190.23 bushels per acre.
“We can see through Randy’s accomplishments that BASF just made the best in fungicides even better. It is amazing that Priaxor helped set a new record this year in the first field, only to be outdone in the second field by our newest Plant Health fungicide Revytek,” said Dr. Josh Miller, BASF Technical Marketing Manager.
In Georgia, where high temperatures can increase respiration, which negatively affects yield, BASF’s Plant Health benefits helped mitigate and reduce respiration so plants could continue to produce more yield. Dowdy’s exceptional yield using Revytek fungicide reinforces BASF’s leading position in the fungicide Plant Health market.
“BASF Plant Health fungicides help plants withstand, not only stresses from disease, but also stresses from the unpredictability of Mother Nature,” Miller added. “We consistently see yield benefits with these products because they let the plant focus on what it needs and wants to do — grow efficiently.”
BASF is dedicated to innovation and has a continuous desire to provide growers, like Dowdy, with new and outstanding tools for disease management. It is this innovation and drive that help Dowdy set the world record two times in one year.
"As part of the 2019 initiative to prepare for the 2020 launch of Revysol, we introducedRevX fields, a demo program at a scale previously unseen in the ag world,” said Miller. “We have over 1,400 on-farm trials with either Revytek or Veltyma across the country this year, providing growers, retailers and consultants with an abundance of local, relevant, and transparent data about how our products perform.”
To learn more about how Randy was able to achieve these record-breaking yields and how BASF Plant Health fungicides can help maximize returns on your own farms, please join us for a special one hour live show on RFD-TV, October 3rd at 7PM CST. Darren and Brian Hefty will moderate the event to celebrate Randy’s accomplishments and talk about the newest innovations in fungicides from BASF.
