Liberty® ULTRA herbicide

Liberty® ULTRA herbicide, Powered by Glu-L Technology, is the next-generation glufosinate herbicide for the next-generation grower. As the first resolved isomer of glufosinate in the US row crop market, you have the freedom to use it on nearly all soybean, cotton, corn and canola trait systems. Your future success starts with Liberty ULTRA herbicide.

Benefits of Liberty® ULTRA

Better Weed Control

  • New Liberty® Lock Formulation locks 3x more herbicide into pigweed vs generic glufosinate.2
  • Wins 9 out of 10 head-to-heads and provides 20% superior weed control versus generics.1
  • Half as likely as a generic glufosinate to require a respray.1

Easier Handling

  • BASF's Glu-L technology enables a reduced use rate. Less volume needed, more acres treated.
  • A convenient 24-29 fl oz recommended rate range on corn, cotton and soybean.
  • Every gallon of Liberty ULTRA herbicide covers 50% more acres than generics at max rates.

Backed by the Best

  • BASF triple tests our Liberty products to ensure every gallon consistently performs.
  • BASF's industry leading R&D investment is how innovations like Liberty ULTRA herbicide are discovered.
  • BASF's local sales team continues to be rated #1 by farmers.3

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is the active ingredient in Liberty ULTRA herbicide? What is the Mode of Action?

Liberty ULTRA herbicide is a Group 10 herbicide, containing L-glufosinate-ammonium, along with a patented surfactant blend.

On what crops is Liberty ULTRA herbicide registered?

Liberty ULTRA herbicide is available for use on canola, corn, sweet corn, cotton, soybeans and sugarbeets.

Does Liberty ULTRA herbicide have a residual?

No, Liberty ULTRA herbicide does not contain a residual. BASF does recommend Liberty ULTRA herbicide be used as part of a total systems approach, including pre- and post-residual  herbicides to incorporate multiple, effective herbicide modes of action (MOA).

What is the recommended use rate for Liberty ULTRA?

When applying post-emergence, BASF recommends applying Liberty ULTRA herbicide at an application rate of 24 fluid ounces per acre, with a spray volume of at least 20 gallons of carrier per acre and a nozzle droplet size of medium-to-coarse-sized droplets for good coverage on the weed surface.

Please refer to the Liberty ULTRA label for complete application and rate guidelines

What are the appropriate mixing instructions for Liberty ULTRA herbicide (by crop)?

Mixing order matters when preparing your spray solution to avoid unintended consequences of incompatible products, resulting in inconvenient downtime. A great way to remember the proper mixing order is to follow the D.A.L.E.S. method: dry products first, followed by AMS, liquid and SC herbicide formulations, emulsifiable concentrates and, lastly, surfactants.

What are the recommended nozzles to use for the best coverage of Liberty ULTRA herbicide (by crop)?

When it comes to nozzle selection, speed and pressure should drive your nozzle choice for the best coverage. For Liberty ULTRA herbicide, that means a nozzle that provides medium- to coarse-size droplets for uniform and thorough weed coverage, such as the examples in the table below.

What is the best time of day to spray Liberty ULTRA herbicide?

Liberty ULTRA herbicide is a light-activated herbicide, which means the time of day you apply is important to maximize efficacy of application. While higher temperatures and relative humidity are also important, sunlight is the main driver of Liberty ULTRA herbicide activity in weeds and its overall effectiveness. Ideal timing for Liberty ULTRA herbicide is two hours after sunrise and two hours before sunset.

How long before Liberty ULTRA is rainfast?

Liberty ULTRA herbicide is rainfast four (4) hours after application for most weed species.

What weeds are controlled by Liberty ULTRA herbicide?

Liberty ULTRA kills types of broadleaf, grassy, biennial and perennial weeds.
