On-Farm, Local Results

The BASF Cotton Agronomic Performance Trial (APT) program covers the entire Cotton Belt, encompassing a wide range of cropping and growing conditions. It provides cotton producers with detailed information on variety performance to assist in selecting the best options from the extensive FiberMax and Stoneville cottonseed portfolio. Results from this comprehensive APT program offer insights into yield potential, fiber quality, suitability for irrigated and dryland conditions, best management practices, and geographic adaptability.

What is an Agronomic Performance Trial (APT)?

An APT is an on-farm cotton variety evaluation trial that compares the latest experimental varieties featuring elite germplasm and Axant™ Flex Technology with current commercial Stoneville and FiberMax varieties. The Agronomic Services Team gathers data and makes field observations from planting through harvest. This extensive data, along with information from other internal and third-party trials, helps make informed decisions about advancing and commercially releasing new varieties within the FiberMax and Stoneville cottonseed portfolio.

Where do I find APT sites?

APT’s are widely distributed across the Cotton Belt with approximately 200 locations planted each year.  For more information, please connect with your local ASA or Agronomic Services Rep.

What makes APT information so credible?

APTs are on-farm trials that are planted and managed by growers throughout the season. As a result, they encompass a wide range of management practices and represent diverse planting and harvest dates, soil types and fertility levels, tillage systems, row spacings, plant populations, and both irrigated and dryland conditions. These trials provide variety information based on local farming operations, reflecting the conditions a variety will face in varying environments and offering confidence in its performance across different settings.
