Are you following these herbicide guidelines?

With multiple herbicide-tolerant trait platforms on the market, knowing what crop protection options you can leverage on your platform of choice will be vital for success this season. These new trait platforms enable more herbicide options for weed control than ever before, giving you confidence in your crop protection plan. If you’re planting LibertyLink®, Enlist™ or XtendFlex® enabled cotton acres and plan on applying Liberty® herbicide, here are some helpful application tips to ensure superior weed control:

Start clean and stay clean

Start with a clean field prior to planting – either through tillage or by applying an effective burndown herbicide. Preventing early weed growth reduces yield loss, provides an alternative site of action and enables more effective control for postemergent herbicides.

Target less than 3-inch weeds

Applying Liberty herbicide when weeds are less than 3 inches is a key to success. Smaller weeds are easier to control. Weeds like Palmer amaranth grow quickly, which makes it difficult to control once they grow larger.

Optimize coverage

Liberty herbicide is a contact herbicide and ensuring you have proper coverage is important for effective weed control. When applying, you’ll want to reference the label directions for optimal rate, water volume, droplet and nozzle size.

Pair with residuals

For superior weed control results, pairing with pre-residual herbicides and a post-residual applied herbicide in the tank with Liberty herbicide will help lengthen control and prevent resistance. Applying a pre-residual herbicide, such as Prowl® H2O herbicide provides broad-spectrum residual control all season long. As for a post-residual tank-mix partner, Outlook® herbicide provides extended protection from problem weeds throughout the growing season.

Knowing which herbicides you can apply on your cotton acres and utilizing different chemistries/modes of action in your crop protection plan can provide better weed control and help fight against resistance. When following the label directions and the above guidelines, Liberty herbicide has proven to provide superior control of tough weeds, including glyphosate-resistant broadleaves and grasses.1 Liberty herbicide has no known resistance in U.S. broadacre crops and is flexible across many cotton trait platforms.

Growers have trusted Liberty herbicide’s unique, patented formulation on millions of acres of corn, soybeans, cotton and canola for almost a quarter century. With no known resistance to Liberty herbicide in U.S. broadacre crops, you can have confidence and ease of mind when applying Liberty.
