Introducing the BASF PR team: Odessa Hines

Get to know the face behind BASF’s media relations efforts

To continue the trend of introducing our PR team, we turn our lens to Odessa Hines. Odessa supports the corn, soy and canola portfolio (both chemistry and seed) and specialty crops. She also manages media relations for the Agricultural Products North America business and local media relations for BASF’s headquarters in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.

 

What is your title?
Media Relations Manager

 

What university did you graduate from?
I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Heels!) and Columbia University in the New York City. I have a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication from UNC and a master’s degree in strategic communication from Columbia.

 

How long have you been working in PR?
15+ years.

 

What are your favorite hobbies?
Currently, my 10-year old son’s hobbies are my hobbies (basketball, swimming, tennis and any other sport he wants to indulge in!), but when I do get a spare moment, I love to read!

 

What’s a fun fact about you?
My sister and I are not twins, but we were born on the same day (October 10), just six years apart!

 

What do you love about working in agriculture?
The people! I’ve had the opportunity to meet some of the most amazing people who are passionate about this industry and dedicated to its success. I’m grateful to be a part of it.
