BASF’s Sack Hunger Challenge back for 2022 Kansas State season

MANHATTAN, KS, September 23, 2022 – September is national Hunger Action Month and BASF is once again donating to the Kansas Food Bank through its Sack Hunger initiative. Since 2016, whenever the Kansas State defense sacks an opposing quarterback, BASF donates $100 to the Kansas Food Bank as part of the initiative.

Annually, the Food Bank served over 945,000 people through their food pantries and meal service programs feeding area families, an increase of about 30 percent pre-pandemic.

“BASF is dedicated to support initiatives like this one because of the direct positive impact to where we live and work,” said Mike Hofer, BASF Director - U.S. Crop West Region, BASF Corporation. “Over the last seven years, I am proud to say our campaign has raised $21,000 to support the local community.”

Kansas Food Bank and its network of nonprofit pantry partner agencies provide food assistance to someone in need more than 945,000 times each year.  Forty-seven percent of food-insecure neighbors served by Kansas Food Bank’s network in 85 counties get more than half of their monthly food from a food pantry.

The Kansas Food Bank collects and distributes donated and low-cost nutritious food to more than 700 hunger relief partners in its 85-county service area. Last year more than 15 million meals were provided, helping to feed food insecure Kansans. Hunger-relief partners include food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, the Food4Kids backpack program, and senior box programs.
